I have been a victim of my own optimism...

(372)
I have a history of making decisions very quickly about men.
I have always fallen in love fast and without measuring risks.
I have a tendency not only to see the best in everyone,
but to assume that everyone is emotionally capable of reaching his highest potential.
I have fallen in love more times than I care to count
with the highest potential of a man, rather than with the man himself,
and I have hung on to the relationship for a long time (sometimes far too long)
waiting for the man to ascend to his own greatness.
Many times in romance I have been a victim of my own optimism.

Sometimes I'm real cool, but sometimes I could be a real asshole.
I think everyone is like that.

There are two ways to look at life.
You can complain that the roses have thorns
or you can be happy that the thorns have roses.

I'd like to tell today's youth that no matter where life takes you,
big cities, small towns, you'll inevitably come across small minded people
who think they're better than you. People who think that material things,
or being pretty or popular, automatically make you a worthwhile human being.
I'd like to tell today's youth that none of these things matter
unless you have a strength of character, integrity...
And if you're lucky enough to have any of these things, don't ever sell out.
Don't ever sell out. So when you meet a person for the first time,
don't judge them by their station in life, 'cause who knows,
that person just might end up being your best friend.

one must have first experienced the things they are better than.

And it's not theirs to speculate if it's wrong.
And your hands are tough, but they are where mine belong.

Never apologize for showing feeling.
When you do so, you apologize for the truth.

Love is like a butterfly, the more you pursue it the more it eludes you,
but if you are calm and still it will land on your shoulder.

The fact is, sometimes it’s really hard to walk in a single woman’s shoes.
That’s why we need really special ones now and then to make the walk a little more fun.

Things change and friends leave. And life doesn’t stop for anybody.

When it’s going well, the fact of it is everywhere.
It’s there in the song that shuffles into your ears. It’s there in the book you’re reading.
It’s there on the shelves of the store as you reach for a towel and forget about the towel.
It’s there as you open the door. As you stare off on the subway, it’s what you’re looking at.
You wear it on the inside of your hat. It lines your pockets. It’s the temperature.
The hitch, of course, is that when it’s going badly, it’s in all the same places.
David Levithan

Everyone is always going through tough things,
the irony in it is that everyone thinks what they're going through
is just as hard as what you are. Life isn't about surviving this,
it's about understanding this.
Nicholas Sparks

I believe that the very purpose of life is to be happy.
The Dalai Lama

(357)
At some point you will realize that you have done too much for someone,
that the only next possible step to do is to stop. Leave them alone.
Walk away. It’s not like you’re giving up, and it’s not like you shouldn’t try.
It’s just that you have to draw the line of determination from desperation.
What is truly yours will eventually be yours,
and what is not, no matter how hard you try, will never be.
